23 THINGS I’VE LEARNED IN 23 YEARS

  1. Know your worth, then add tax…and a tip.
  2. Your weight and your worth are not correlated.
  3. Do not let the opinions of others dictate your happiness.
  4. The person you owe the most to in life is yourself.
  5. It is okay to choose spending time alone over spending time with someone.
  6. Self-care isn’t selfish, and your version of self-care may be drastically different than someone else’s.
  7. You do not need to validate the state of your mental health to others.
  8. Your feelings are valid.
  9. Changing your opinion, big or small, does not mean you’re a hypocrite. It means you’ve evolved.
  10. It’s not always your job to be the bigger person.
  11. Just because you move on doesn’t mean you didn’t try.
  12. Not everything that ends is a bad thing.
  13. Don’t wait until you’re down to your last pair of underwear to finally do your laundry, because then you’ll want to do it even less.
  14. Sometimes you fail, that’s okay.
  15. “It’s a bad day not a bad life.”
  16. It’s okay to do less when you’re dealing with more.
  17. Find the silver lining in bad situations, even if it is far after the fact.
  18. Remember to forgive yourself.
  19. Sometimes your parents really do know what’s best for you.
  20. Appreciate the little things in life, like that first sip of coffee in the morning or a beautiful autumn day.
  21. Just because you’re not in the same spot as someone else in life does not mean you’re not as successful.
  22. Don’t forget to celebrate the small victories in life.
  23. Life is short, so don’t worry about what other people will think and do all that you have always wanted to do.
